Dear Athletic Booster Committee Members,
I’m reaching out to address the heartbreaking news that one of our varsity football players tragically took his own life on Wednesday night. This loss has profoundly affected our entire community, and as a group, we must come together to support one another and the family of our departed player.
In this difficult time, it’s crucial that we, as the Cardinal Club, unite our efforts to contribute meaningfully to our community’s healing and grieving process. I’d like to open a discussion on how we can collectively make a difference. Here are some initial ideas for our group to consider:
- Organizing a community-wide memorial service or vigil
- Establishing a scholarship fund in the player’s name
- Coordinating with school counselors to provide additional support resources
- Arranging a meal train for the player’s family
- Your thoughts and suggestions on these ideas or any others are invaluable. Together, we can develop a comprehensive plan to support our community during this challenging time.
Immediate actions we’re taking as a group:
- Tonight’s football game has been rescheduled for tomorrow, with the exact time to be determined. We’ll communicate this information as soon as it’s available.
- A statement will be posted on our social media channels today around 1 PM on behalf of the Cardinal Club. If you have any photos of our departed player that could be included, please send them to me.
As we move forward, let’s focus on how we can collectively honor the memory of our young player and strengthen our community bonds. Our combined efforts can make a significant difference in helping everyone through this difficult period.
